More bombs in Baghdad - boring...
John Howard wins election - who cares....

EU sugar export subsidies deemed illegal... YESSSS... This is much more crucial for Australia (and Brasil, Thailand etc.) than a CLAYTON's "free" trade deal with the US. Finally the WTO has come to this obvious conclusion, and the EU will probably comply with the ruling since it got one going its way against the USA earlier. Ironically, Australia's trade deal with the US should be deemed prejudicial (and therefore, if Aus pressed its case with the WTO would be deemed illegal) in terms of the sugar etc. exemptions heaped upon us (importantly, they discriminate against us in this respect) and I just see it as a cynical ploy to get around the rules of the WTO - in effect to discourage, rather than encourage free trade. I actually feel it would be in the best interests of the EU if all their agricultural subsidies were found illegal. Then they could dismantle some of them without being voted out of office:- they would just blame the WTO.

  1. This comments thing finally seems to be working, I didn't have any luck last time. Up the mighty GATT! Hurrah!
Not that it is anything to do with your post, but thanks for reading my novel and for your comments. I hope it wasn't too arduous a task. Feel free to pass the url on to anyone you think might be interested, I don't have any plans to submit the thing to a publisher- I would rather embrace the emerging 21st century paradigms of novel disseminating...
I do mean to include a map, I just have been too slack to do a legible black-and-white line drawing version of the one you will find on our (far from finished) atlas of Tsai athttp://www.otherleg.com/club/tsai/dakorosm.html.
There is a lot of history written for Tsai, but the only publicly accessible material with a historical bent are the 'Lost Cities' on Otherleg/Forgottenplanet. Nesjhaim from 'One Human Moment' is in the same world, but close to the opposite side...

  4. 21st century??? How about submitting forgotten planets URL to some search engines. Or how about looking up google to find some publishers and emailing them the URL. At the moment, even though it's in plain view, this novel and the whole forbidden planet concept is very hidden in cyberspace terms. At least ask the powers that be in nanowrimo a good starting point to submit novels. I think even if this one was to be "free" it wouldn't harm your cause if more and more people read it and like it, even if they could copy it. Andrew has password protected his novels now, but for you I guess it's better to try the exact opposite. Do the easy, free things that advertise your site better!
