Supernanny style family analysis will become compulsory
Or at least it should. So many family problems that end up being family breakers or worse, can be nipped in the bud by a few weeks of analysis and training of the parents by experienced "nannies". The excerpts from the show seem extreme, but they are extremely common problems. Each family is a special case, and all parents have gaps in the understanding of the potential solutions. This is why watching the show isn't really enough. The three week program just has to be gone through for maximal society benefit.

So what's it going to be- a coercive nanny state in every sense of the word, or the slow clap of democracy's invisble hand?
At the moment it is commerce that is financing it. The people who watch the show "finance" the programme's expansion and continuation. Adam Smith's invisible hand in fact is smacking the parents and children into better disciplinary arrangements. However, since I was talking in the abstract I was expressing the thought that it "ought" to happen. I am not really sure how it could eventually be a universal service. The spinoff show Nanny 911 did not seem to have as much success, so I'm not sure how far the hand of commerce can go by itself. Until it becomes a policy idea in some politician's head, I don't think democracy will be helpful.
Well recently I was discussing with my partner how the people who create Funniest home videos really should be presented with prizes such as a parenting course, or counselling for their children's phobias....
Now what I would really like to see is Supernanny meets funniest home video parents and see what happens.
